Scisoft 是一个天文软件集，也是欧洲南方天文台(ESO)的一个项目计划，里面的大部分软件都是ESO以为的开发，都由ESO集合到这个套件里。内容有经常使用的数据分析软件（IRAF/STSDAS, ESO-MIDAS 和 IDL等），还有其它一些小软件。
整个套件是一张光盘，内容是一个压缩包，大约500多M，但是解压之后可以达到2G多。目前该套件只支持Unix类操作系统和Mac OS，主要是支持Linux。目前最新版是V5，发布于2003年12月，支持RedHat 9及以后版本。
由于软件包内容丰富，体积庞大，因此建议专门分一个/Scisift分区安装这些文件，分区大小应该不小于3G。安装过程可以参考光盘的INSTALL文件。

内容很丰富，肯定很多人感兴趣了吧！下面介绍如何得到这张光盘：第一种方法，下载，但是下载的软件比较分散，不是一个完整的大包。
另一种方法就是可以向ESO免费索取，这也是ESO为全球天文学工作者奉献的一份免费大餐，我在2002年曾发E-Mail订过V4版，今年V5版出来之后，我又订了一份。过程很简单，只需到Scisoft的Order Form上填写完整的地址及个人信息即可在1-2周左右得到这张光盘（我当时只用了一周时间）。
我下半年将在南京学习，如果有南京的朋友需要这张光盘，可以拿我的光盘去复制，或者干脆直接将软件包复制到你的移动硬盘也可以。
关于里面的软件，除了IDL是商业版协议以外，其他的都是Free的软件。IDL需要购买许可方可使用，或者你有办法破解也行，不过还是建议使用正版（购买软件许可）。
